Talk-Active Youth Project Worker

Hours: 30 hours per week

Location: Based in Workington

Salary: £19,000 pro-rata

Job Purpose:

Talk–Active is a new project funded by Children in Need, which through a range of activities and workshops, supports young people with learning difficulties to develop key skills and knowledge around six domains of life (healthy life, safe life, expressive life, future life, skills for life and relationships).

As a Talk-Active Youth Worker you will support teams of young people with learning difficulties and peer supporters from urban and rural Cumbria to take part in a range of activities. As well as engaging in “crucial conversations” to support effective transition to adulthood, personal development and enhanced well-being.

Our ideal candidate:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working individual who is passionate about supporting young people to live their best life to join our team in West Cumbria.

You will have experience of working with young people with learning difficulties in groups and face to face. You will also have knowledge of issues and challenges facing young people with learning difficulties. You will also have the ability to contact, engage and motivate young people, considering each individual’s specific different communication needs.

Qualifications:

  • It is essential that the post holder has: NVQ/VRQ Level 2
  • It is desirable that the post holder has: A qualification in an activity relevant to the Youth Work Curriculum.

Our organisation is user-led meaning that our customers are at the heart of all decision making. People First is a person-centred organisation, we care deeply about the rights of each and every customer that we support.

We have teams of staff based in Carlisle, Barrow and Workington, all working from our Best Life Buildings. We are also working in the North East Region and Liverpool.
