Live Your Best Live

Hi I’m Chris and I started working at People First in October 2013 after graduating from University with a degree in Physical Education.

I currently I have a variety of roles within the organisation. My main role at People First is as the Volunteer and Training Coordinator.

My responsibilities in this role include: Recruiting and mentoring volunteers and providing staff and volunteers with appropriate training opportunities to enable them to do their job to the best of their ability and deliver the very best possible service to our customers.

As a result of my previous work experiences and my personal experiences of being a volunteer I understand the importance of the role that volunteers can play within organisations and I am keen to establish volunteers as an integral part of People First.

In my other roles at People First I am a Sessional Worker on the Young People First project and a Health Trainer on the Best Life Weight Management program.

As a sessional worker I support young people with learning disabilities to carry out accessibility audits at various premises throughout Cumbria.

My role as a health trainer on the Best Life Weight Management program is to support individuals who want to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle by providing them with relevant information, advice and opportunities.
I certainly practice as a preach as health and sport are a big part of my personal life, I am a keen runner, fell walker and footballer and I perhaps spend a bit too much time at the gym. I have been referred to as ‘fairly competitive’ when it comes to sport.

Aside from work and sport, I enjoy socialising with friends and family and going to the cinema particularly to see the latest superhero film.
I am an extremely driven and motivated individual and I strive to deliver the best outcomes possible. I always set myself goals and targets in order to challenge and better myself: in the past I have completed numerous half marathons and mud obstacle courses. Future goals include: to complete a Marathon, to complete all the Wainwright walks and to become Ironman's sidekick.
